Alejandro Gómez

Hi, I’m Alejandro. I’m 19 and in my second year of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at La Salle, in Barcelona.

When I finished my first year I knew this was the field I wanted to work in. I didn’t know where to start, but I didn’t want to stand still either, so I began training on my own and sharing the process on X.

I’m training to become an AI engineer, with a hands-on focus on the technical foundations behind it. I study classic machine learning and deep learning, with particular attention to LLMs and agentic systems.

AI makes it possible to build increasingly complex systems through natural language. The greater that complexity, the more important it is to understand how these systems work inside in order to identify what is failing and why.

That is why, alongside my degree, I spend my free time strengthening that technical base and building projects that teach me how real-world problems are solved.

My next step is to join a startup. I feel ready to make the leap, and I want to learn by solving real problems, taking ownership of what I build, iterating quickly on user feedback and working alongside people with more experience than me.

I’m ambitious and driven by steady growth, by seeing that every month I can do something I couldn’t before. My main strength is turning loosely defined goals into concrete plans and owning them through to the end, staying calm when things get complicated. I believe that is especially valuable at a startup, where very little comes defined in advance.

Outside class I take part in industry events and meetups, and I make a point of meeting and reaching out to people whose work interests me. I believe being part of a community speeds up learning and helps everyone grow. Later on I want to give back by contributing to open source projects and supporting the community that is helping me today.
